For those not familiar with the album, nor band, Deathconsciousness is an album of myriad genres, mainly Post-Punk and Shoegaze. Without going on a long rant on how amazing the album is suffice to say it's one of the greatest albums of either genre, and mandatory.History. Have a Nice Life was formed in 2000 by Dan Barrett and Tim Macuga of Connecticut. Their debut album, Deathconsciousness, has received critical acclaim since its release in 2008. It initially did not receive much recognition, but has since been hailed as a modern masterpiece through discussions on online communities and word of mouth. A year later, in a healthy mental place for the first time in about 7 years, I listened to Deathconsciousness and the awareness of death and the embrace of darkness and life and productivity inspired me and gave me a different, more positive take on the idea that death is the only truth. That night gave me a new wave of motivation and direction (and a few new songs) for the album I had been.
